Cox and Dinkins provided civil engineering and surveying services for this multi-phased project spanning over seven years. The project’s initial phase was designing and constructing the Canal Front Terrace Building, an addition to the Edventure Children’s Museum, which created modern meeting and office spaces. To complete the project, the exterior grounds were revitalized by adding new green spaces, a terrace and promenade, hardscape edges, sidewalks, and a pedestrian walkway at the canal front, serving as an extension of the river walk along the Congaree River.

Unique to the project and one of the engineering challenges involved the stabilization of the eroding bank of the Congaree River in supporting a wooden walkway running under the historic Gervais Street Bridge.
